I became very interested with the connection between the diamond and Buddhism, which lead me to research further into the Diamond Sutra while painting the Buddha.
The Diamond Sutra, part of the Buddhist teachings, also known by its Sanskrit title Vajracchedika Prajnaparamita Sutra, is summed up most simply that ‘something is what it is only because of what it is not’. This is meant to challenge the common belief that inside each of us is an soul, but instead, a more fluid and relational view of existence.
Meaning that if you have the belief of one self (core/soul), that we would be forever stuck as one thing unable to move forward unable to change. This is the belief we are fluid and always changing instead of being the same person as yesterday or even a moment ago.
